Wlu Dele,2023
One day, while examining his uncle’s family album, Sohn discovered a small grammar book that taught Krahn, the language of the Krahn people of Liberia and Ivory Coast—Sohn’s native tongue. Although he can fluently understand Krahn, Sohn cannot speak, read, or write in it. To overcome this linguistic barrier, he sought the assistance of his father, Abednego Sohn (b. 1966). With the aid of technology, they embarked on a virtual learning exchange, connecting and bonding in the process. This culminated in a series of intimate short videos titled Wlu Dele, which means "New Word" in Krahn. The videos are availble for viweing on Abenda Sohn’s Vimeo, located here.
